Christian Formation for Adults - Sunday Mornings in Lent
The Spirituality of Jazz: Paul Ferguson
Sunday, February 24, 10 a.m. in the Dining Room
Parishioner Paul Ferguson has been director of Jazz Studies at Case Western Reserve University since
1988. Paul has traveled with the Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller bands as lead trombonist and arranger
and currently fi lls those functions with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. Paul is known internationally for his
jazz arrangements and recordings. Please join us as Paul shares his perspective on new forms of sacred
music and the process of composing his Jazz Vespers. This is a wonderful prelude to the performance of
Ferguson’s Jazz Vespers on Friday, February 29, here at St. Paul’s.
The Spirituality of Creating Visual Art: Katherine Chilcote
Sunday, March 2, 10 a.m. in the Dining Room
Katherine Chilcote is a mural artist and Director of the Building Bridges Mural Program. She has created
murals all over the city of Cleveland, including one for the Interfaith Plaza at Case Western Reserve
University. She brings people together from various walks of life to create art, and through that experience
to come to understand themselves and one another better.
The Spirituality of Sacred Music: Steven Plank
Sunday, March 9, 10 a.m. in the Dining Room
Our own Steven Plank will present his thoughts on liturgical practice and musical style – both in history
and in practice here at St. Paul’s. Steven is Associate Organist-Choirmaster for St. Paul’s, and Professor of
Musicology and Director, Collegium Musicum at Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
2nd International Summit on Conflict Resolution Education Youth and Conflict: Global Challenges - Local Strategies
March 28 - 29, 2008 Tri C Eastern Campus
At the International Summit on Conflict Resolution Building Bridges will be creating an on- site mural in response to personal stories shared about resolution and reconciliation. Throughout the hallways during the conference look for visual responses from our regions key thinkers as they interact and collaborate in ideas about conflict resolution.
