Building Bridges

Murals with a Mission

Educational Programming

Fostering youth development through experiential art education, job training and mentorship with professional artists.

Summer Mural Institute
Building Bridges provides job training to teens through the creation of public art. Each teen participating in the creation of public art is a paid intern, working 150 hours of time over the course of the summer.  Currently the job training portion of Building Bridges is limited to the summer months, but is looking for creative ways to expand to a year round program.

If you are between the ages of 14-18 and interested in being considered for our Summer Mural Institute please contact Katherine Chilcote at 216-374-9339.

Internships are also available for college students looking to gain experience in arts administration.

After School Mentoring Program
The mentoring program runs throughout the school year as a training program for potential mural interns. Artists in residence participate in the mentoring program as positive role models for young emerging artists.  In partnership with Community Care Network, the After School Mentoring program offers individualized artistic training to at-risk youth in the greater Cleveland area.

Artist in Residence

Support mural artists and artists in residence in sharing their talents and experiences with youth and communities in Cleveland.

Artist in Residence Program
The artists in residence program aims to empower emerging artists through a residency opportunity in Cleveland Ohio. The residency consists of a studio space, living space, a location to carry out a small scale mural, and a guest lecture and exhibition opportunity.

Guest Lecture Series
The guest lecture series which began spring 2007 gives Cleveland artists a chance to share with the community their work and their vision for Cleveland’s arts community.  Each artist in residence is asked to participate in our  lecture series.

Exhibitions and Open Studio Visits
Artists participating in the artist in residence program open their studios mid residency for the public to see what each artist has been working on, promote sales of work, and exchange ideas with one another.
